At its continuing fifth session on Saturday, the National Assembly authorized extending tourist e-visas from 30 to 90 days, effective from August 15, 2023.
The Parliament has approved the amendment to the Law on Foreigners’ Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence in Vietnam, with 470 of 475 members voting in favor.
The government makes a list of nations and territories whose nationals are accepted, as well as a list of international border gates that allow foreigners to enter and exit with an electronic visa. Foreigners who receive an electronic visa can enter and exit the country an unlimited number of times within 90 days without having to go through procedures for obtaining a new visa.
According to Mr. Le Tan Tri, chairman of the NA Committee for National Defence and Security, having immigration procedures completed online, would improve the management of entry and exit activities for both Vietnamese and visitors.
As of 2023, Vietnam provides e-visas to nationals of 80 countries and territories and waives visa requirements for citizens of 25 countries, usually for a period of 15 to 30 days.
